Well there was no way I was going to waste $40 on a crappy 3rd party TV mount for the Kinect that's available. So I decided to go the better(?) route. Took the thick sturdy foam that's inside the Kinect package and carefully removed it from the cardboard it was glued on to so I get a good adhesive. Removed both hinge pieces and used one of them to help prop up the base...the remaining adhesive on the foam sticks well to the TV and to the other foam piece.
The end result was very satisfactory and people that came over thought it was a regular mount without looking at it carefully...doesn't look like some kind of cheap job I did to prop it up and surprisingly it's very sturdy and the base has done a good job of holding the Kinect system even when I swivel.
My cousin did the same exact thing when he saw how I did it, and he's happy with it.
Just an idea for those looking for an alternative to prop the Kinect up on their TV and don't want to spend money on that crappy $40 TV mount.
