I've been enjoying Blitz so far, or at least, when I can get the setup I want. I've GSed "Selkies" and "Ghost of Perdition" (the latter of which took more tries than I'd like to admit). I do have occasional difficulty seeing the notes (a la Beatlemania), but for the most part, it's not bad.
However, actually playing the game as it's intended is hindered by its most glaring design flaw: the coin system. Power-ups are governed by a coin system, where each time you use it costs a certain amount of coins (OD Powers being 300, Note Powers being 250, and Track Powers being 200). Add them up and playing a song with all three Power slots costs 750 coins.
The problem is that if you play a song, you'll only get about 300-500 for finishing it (playing a new song doubles the amount, but that's a finite principle, so it's pretty much beside the point). This means that if you're trying to replay a song, there's a point that you will run out of money and have to play a song without Powers to gain enough cash, which makes no sense in a game that completely revolves around getting high scores. On top of that, if you restart, you have to rebuy the Powers. That's right. If you restart, you're hard-earned coins go to waste. Dick move.
So from a gameplay standpoint, it's fine, but that coin system is so counter-intuitive and out-of-place in the game. Its presence in the game is so detrimental that it absolutely baffles me why the developers implemented it.
Bottom line: Coins can fuck off.
